Born and raised in the Cobourg area, Chris has been involved in the Martial Arts community for over 19 years.

Within that time he has gained experience in Boxing, Muay Thai  Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Chris is dedicated to providing the the Northumberland and surrounding area with a longstanding and professional martial arts academy.

In 2008 his drive and passion for martial arts lead him to Thailand where he lived and trained for over 5 months. Although his primary focus is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has been for over 12 years, he is continually looking to grow and evolve as both a martial artist and a teacher. Chris trains on a regular basis in both Muay Thai Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is a Brown Belt under Justin Bruckmann.



Myles Allen

Competitor, United Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Cobourg

Myles Allen is one of the most dedicated and accomplished competitors at United BJJ. He started his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu career in 2008  in the area’s very first BJJ club, continuing on with Chris Macaulay at United since its inception in 2010. He Received his Blue belt in December of 2011 and his purple belt in December 2013. Myles is an active competitor and competes  representing United BJJ  on an ongoing basis.  With over 30 Tournaments under his belt Myles has racked up a number Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for himself and our Academy. You can find Myles training at United BJJ nearly every night of the week.





Debin Shorthouse

Muay Thai Instructor

Debin has been involved with the art of Muay Thai for over 10 years. During his time studying the art Debin has managed to rack up a number of accolades in the sport. Including winning his first National Championship in 2010 and successfully defending that Title in 2011 and in 2012.  Debin has seen an amazing fight career over the years and the sport has taken him around the world to study and learn. We also cannot leave out the fact that Debin is a very talented coach who through his passion for the sport and our students will be leading our Muay Thai Kickboxing competitors to the National Championships in 2015!
